International Nature Conservation

The Dee Estuary is situated on the North West coast of Britain on the edge of the Irish Sea. two boats on the river dee The Estuary is internationally important for nature conservation.  It's wildlife and habitats are unique and are protected as a Ramsar site and a Special Protection Area because is supports hundreds of thousands of wading birds and wildfowl over winter. The Estuary is close to the cities of Chester, Liverpool and Manchester and is half in England and half in Wales.

The Dee Estuary Strategy provides a network to improve co-ordination and communication between different organisations around the Dee Estuary.

The Dee Estuary is part of the PISCES Group (The Partnership of Irish Sea Coast & Estuary Strategies) and the North West Coastal Forum.  Both these voluntary organisations aim to bring together partnerships in North West England to promote sustainable use and integrated management of the coast.
